Rendell Bourg






Rendell was born and raised in Honolulu and is a graduate of Maryknoll High School. He has been a licensed contractor since 1980.


Rendell started with National Fire in 1998 and in early 1999 became its owner and President. Besides running a contracting business, he has served as an instructor for continuing education programs at Kamehameha Schools Kapalama campus and at Honolulu Community College. He is currently the President of the newly-formed Automatic Fire Alarm Association of Hawaii. Rendell has a vision to provide fire protection education, development and training in Hawaii in a state of the art facility.


Rendell is a "people person." His easy-going, positive outlook, sense of humor and generosity has benefited many. His volunteer activities include coaching intermediate and high school basketball, sponsoring a basketball team in the annual  NCAA Summer League, serving on numerous community and church boards and committees and actively mentoring Maryknoll High School and Hawaii Youth Challenge Academy students.


Lanette Bourg

Vice President of Administration




Lanette’s work experience spans the hospitality, finance and contracting sectors. She joined National Fire Protection in 1999 to perform accounting, payroll, personnel, office management and administrative duties. She currently handles matters related to risk mitigation such as insurance management and renewal, claims, compliance, legal and human resources and human relations. 
Lanette values wellness, strong relationships, stewardship and faith. She is an active member of her church, a mentor with the YWCA Dress for Success program and an avid outrigger canoe paddler and the treasurer of her canoe club.  She enjoys volunteering, hanging out with family and friends, reading, hiking and travel.




David Tworkowski, SET






David "Twork" has been involved in nearly every aspect of fire protection/alarm systems for a wide range of applications in the metropolitan areas of Washington DC, New York City, Boston, Houston, Baltimore, and Honolulu.   His experience with construction in special hazards, fire alarms, fire sprinklers, inspection and testing has brought a wealth of invaluable experience to the team.


Additionally, Dave has 20 years worth of experience in firefighting and emergency medicine as he is a retired Fire Captain from Montgomery County Fire & Rescue services in Rockville, Maryland.  Along side of his firefighting career he has held many positions within fire protection companies ranging from; pipe fitter, inspector, electrician, technician, designer, project engineer, project manager, engineering manager, and director.  


Before coming to Hawaii Dave was teaching fire protection technology at Montgomery College with an alliance partnership at University of Maryland University College.  Dave was also a student of the National Firefighter Academy, National Institute of Emergency Medicine, Connecticut State Fire Academy, Emergency Management Institute, PSTA Mongomery County Fire Academy, WestConn, Naugatuck Valley Tech, Montgomery College, University of Maryland, University of New Haven, Kaplan University, and George Mason University. 


David is NICET certified Level II in Special Hazards, Level IV in Fire Alarm Systems, and Level I in Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems


Mike Hulser

Mike is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Virginia Tech and a graduate of GE’s Financial Management and Advanced Financial Management Programs. Mike has served as a Financial Officer for Fortune 500 companies Emerson and Groupe Schneider (Square D) and as an Interim Chief Financial Officer for Hawaiian Airlines. Mike’s accolades include:
  • “US Turnaround Manager of the Year” by the US Turnaround Management Association.
  • “Honolulu Financial Services Champion” by the US Small Business Administration.

Art Luna

Art has been in the fire protection/suppression industry for 25 years. He is a graduate from Honolulu Community College with an Associates Degree in Fire Sciences.  His work includes estimating, design, installation, project management and service manager.  Art has obtained manufacturer's certifications for portable fire extinguishers, industrial and kitchen fire systems, alarms systems and HSSD.

Art's work can be seen in several different market types ranging from office, warehouse, institutional, industrial, and petrochemical type projects. Art, as a systems Subject Matter Expert (SME), has worked on Federal, State, City & County and GSA projects throughout the State of Hawaii and in the Pacific Rim.

Art is NICET certified Level I in Special Hazard Systems


Joseph Arakaki-Poepoe

Joseph serves his customers as National Fire Protection's - Honolulu Branch Manager.  He has been in the fire protection/suppression industry for 25 years. Joseph's keen expertise in fire protection systems brings depth and ability to National.  Seen on a daily basis working with customers, Joseph is more known for his hands on management approach while performing with the highest level of integrity.  What most people dont know about Joseph was that he was a major league baseball pitcher playing for a stent with the Baltimore Orioles before returning back home to Oahu.


Joseph is NICET certified Level II in Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems

Jesse serves his customers as National Fire Protection - Maui Branch Manager.  He has been in the fire protection/suppression industry for nearly 15 years. Jesse has a very long history of fire protection in his family.  Jesse’s grandfather was the first fire chief of City of Kissimmee – Florida.  Jesse’s family fire protection history ranges from firefighting, to fire command, to fire protection detection and suppression systems. 


As Jesse was raised on firefighter stories and working with his father in his fire protection shop, Jesse has learned the trade from sources that many envy.  His work ethic has earned him respect from his colleagues and has positioned him with several major manufacturer's certifications for portable fire extinguishers, industrial and kitchen fire systems, alarms systems and suppression systems.


Jesse is NICET certified level III in Fire Alarm Systems


Island of Hawaii (Big Island)


James Naylor
Big Island Branch Manager

James has been in the fire protection/suppression industry for 20 years. He time spent in the United States Marine Corp - Kaneohe - Oahu has laid the basis for his knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Since his Marine Corp time, James has been hard at work forming a special hazard fire protection career.  

James is an absolute specialist when it comes to Special Hazard Fire Suppression Systems (clean agent, wet/dry chemical, foam, sprinkler, fire pumps) for electrical power plants, industrial manufacturing, heavy machinery facilities, and fuel storage tanks/farms. 

James is NICET certified Level III in Special Hazards.
